A Yiddish Fiddler with you as the star

The Yiddish Theatre Workshop, a project of the Committee for Yiddish of UJA Federation, launches its third 10-week course on Oct. 15. Whatever your level of Yiddish-language competency or the extent of your theatre experience, if you’ve ever wanted to act, this is your chance. Under the guidance of performer-director David Gale, you will participate in weekly classes centred around the reading of the Yiddish-language version of the stage hit Fiddler on the Roof (Fidler oyfn dakh) in transliteration.

In a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere, course participants will exercise their acting skills, develop their capacity for Yiddish, engage in lively discussions of the play and maybe even become a star. Registration $150. Workmen’s Circle, 471 Lawrence Ave. W., 7 to 9 p.m. on either Tuesdays or Thursdays (days to be announced). Contact Barbara Barak, Committee for Yiddish, 416-635-2883, ext. 5189.
