J.J. Abrams Won’t ReCast Anton Yelchin’s Star Trek Role

The 27-year-old actor, who starred in three Star Trek films, succumbed to injuries from a tragic car accident at his California home and died late last month.

Star Trek Producer J.J. Abrams has announced that he will not re-cast Anton Yelchin‘s character, Pavel Chekov, in future Star Trek films. He said, “I would say there’s no replacing him. I can’t possibly imagine that, and I think Anton deserves better.” When asked whether a future film will include the death of Pavel Chekov, Abrams said, “I have thought about it, we’re working on it, and it’s too early to talk about it.”
