If you read Polish and have access to Polish cultural publications, you can see pictures of Jewish Galicia (c. 1900) and accompanying descriptions in a magazine called “Galicja Kultura Tradycja Wspolczesnosc” Rok 2 Nr 1-2(3-4)/2001. I was an Internet pen pal of one of the magazine contributors at the time and provided the pictures to him. In return, he sent me a copy of the issue. It has a picture of Emperor Franz Josef on the cover (Cesarz Franciszek Josef I).

During the interwar period, Galicia was part of an independent Poland. Since 1939, most of it has been part of the Ukraine, which itself was under German occupation from 1941-45.
