TORONTO — Toronto police have charged an 18-year-old man and two 16-year-old young offenders in connection with a series of break and enters and mischief incidents in the Bathurst and Wilson area.
Police allege that on one occasion the suspects had entered a garage and defaced property with antisemitic symbols.
They also allege that they defaced a garage side door and the trunk of a car with antisemitic symbols.
The incident was reported in The CJN last week. In it, a family living near the Baycrest Centre found swastikas on the door to their garage and on a spare door inside. The slurs included “F.. Jews” and “Watch your children.”
It is alleged in regard to the adult, Michael Spirka of Mississauga, that “on numerous occasions vehicles were also entered and property stolen.”
The incidents took place between Monday, May 6, 2013 and Sunday, June 16, 2013.
The names of the young people cannot be released under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Spirka was charged with multiple counts of possessing stolen property, attempted theft and possession of marijuana.
