Q. I often notice that my stomach looks and feels bloated. Are there any foods I could be eating to reduce this?A. This is a very common complaint among people of all ages, and while this symptom can be caused by a number of gastro-intestinal ailments, some foods may provide relief. Make sure to also mention this symptom to your doctor.

Probiotics, which I have praised before, is the good bacteria in such products as yogurt and kefir. It’s fabulous for soothing and rebuilding the gastro-intestinal tract. Have about one cup a day, and after a few weeks, you’ll notice a difference. Include both soluble and insoluble fibre in your diet. Get fibre from cereals with bran buds or cereals with psyllium added, as well as high-fibre breads. Reduce sodium intake as it causes water retention and drink eight cups of water per day, which is essential to allow the fibre to move freely, to help flush out excess sodium and for hydration. You should notice a reduction in constipation, bloating, gas and discomfort.
