Museum Shooter Dies

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The shooter in the attack on the U.S. Holocaust Museum died. James von Brunn, who shot and killed museum guard Stephen Tyrone Johns on June 10 in an attempted armed raid on the museum, died in prison Jan. 6 at age 88. Another guard shot Von Brunn in the face. He recovered and was awaiting trial on possible death penalty charges in a federal prison in Butner, N.C. He had a long history of white supremacist and anti-Semitic writings.

Chabad Threatened

MUMBAI — The Chabad house in Mumbai got a letter threatening another attack. The handwritten letter was received recently at the site where an attack more than a year ago killed six Jews, including Chabad Lubavitch emissaries Rabbi Gavriel and Rivkah Holtzberg, who ran the centre, Ynet reported. It read, in part, “Israel is dogs. We will strike again – heil, Hitler,” and was accompanied by a photo of Adolf Hitler. Chabad’s Nariman House was one of 10 sites under siege during a three-day attack that started Nov. 26, 2008, by an Islamist Pakistani group that left 166 dead.

No Charges Expected

CHISINAU — No charges will be filed against an anti-Semitic mob that tore down a menorah in Moldova. The prosecutor’s office in the capital of Chisinau said it found no evidence a crime was committed, despite video of the Dec. 13 event that’s been posted on YouTube.
