D’Arcy McGee Liberal MNA Lawrence Bergman has announced, on behalf of Social Services Minister Dominique Vien, a $495,000 renovation at Maimonides Geriatric Centre to replace its access ramp to the Mackles Road pavilion. It’s part of a $1.1-million ministry fund to improve long-term care facilities.

Twelve-year-old Riverdale High School student Alexa Nozetz recently organized her second annual Hip-Hop 4 Hope fundraising dance workshop benefiting the Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation. She’s been fundraising for favourites causes since age eight and enlisted the support of 8 Court Dance Complex Steve Bolton.
Temple Emanu-El-Beth Sholom’s committee against human trafficking and Chab Dai Canada held a recent day-long conference at a local high school on sex trafficking that involved 300 students. The day, meant to equip teens with information on the issue, included films as well as police and RCMP participation.
