Of all things to bother a Jewish woman and mother – the Green Line should not be one of them!!

How about the safety and security of other Jewish children like her own who would be put into peril, danger and death by ISIS, Al Nusra, Hezbollah, Hamas, PA and other terrorists who would take over Israel and are AT WAR with Israel? What about a nuclear Iran? Does she want the Islamists to take over? Would that ease her leftist conscience? Does she really want to sacrifice Jews to those who in wars and terror have made it clear that they want her and all jews deead?

The Green Line is an armistice line made when all Arab countries attacked the Jews just as they got off the boats and after they had escaped the Nazi death camps. The line extends deep into the lands that were given to the Jewish people. The British then stripped away Jordan and gave it to Arab monarchs. The Arabs, in turn, stole the West Bank from the Jews in war after being offered most of Israel in an unfair division which gave the Arabs most of the land. The Jews were supposed to have all of the lands from the Jordan River to the sea according to the San Remo agreement and League of Nations (UN) decisions. The Jews were willing to accept 20% but the Arabs rejected that arrangement too!!

Now the Jews of J-Street and NIF, etc, are telling the Jews once again where they can and cannot live. They are acting like self-appointed demigods deciding on life and death by putting Jews into concentration camps on indefensible slivers of land attackable on all sides. They are the Kapos helping the new Nazis (Islamists) eradicate Israel. Why do the leftist Jews want to eliminate Israel? Do they want to help Islamists get the remaining 1 percent that is not under dictatorial and terrorist rule? Leftist Jews living at a comfortable distance away from Israel want a bloodbath and to sacrifice their own for the sake of terrorists with whom they seem to have developed an affinity and a real fondness. Nowhere in our religion does it say that we must offer our heads on a platter to our enemies – quite the opposite – we are supposed to defend and protect Israel and our children first.

    • TerrorIsEvil

“The Jews were supposed to have all of the lands from the Jordan River to the sea.” Actually, by international agreement in the early part of the 20th century, they were supposed to have Judea-Samaria.

      • ian

Now, let’s just think about that. If the Jews would have had the whole territory of mandatory Palestine, including Jordan, then the Jews would have been a distinct minority in the whole country. They would have been less than 25% of the population. That would not have been a Jewish country. Let us go back and look at the Jews having sovereignty of only Palestine (Jordan to the Med) in 1948. Once again they would have been a small minority and therefore no Jewish country. Your premise is absurd, the only way a Jewish country could have been, and was, created was through partition and ethnic cleansing.

        • Amon Duul 3

partition and ethnic cleansing That is indeed what happened.

          • TerrorIsEvil

The Jews were ethnically cleansed from their own land…or attempts were made to do so in all the wars that the Arab world initiated because in their religion nobody is allowed to tread on land that they once conquered even when it were for a short period of time.

          • workingbrain

“ethnic cleansing”? ETHNIC CLEANSING?? More than 1.5 million Arabs live with more freedoms than ANY other country in the ME, as ISRAELIS.

But there’s no more than a hand-full of Jews in the entire ME; why? because THEY, the JEWS were ethnically cleansed.

          • Amon Duul 3

Ethnic cleansing? Your disgraceful Nakba denial is similar to anti Semites who say that the fact that there were Jews left in Europe after WW2 meant that there was no Holocaust. You should be ashamed.

          • workingbrain

Duul, your pathological fixation on seeing only the displacement of people who have been used and abused by THEIR OWN for over 67 years, displays a racist perspective; does the displacement of the millions of post WWii refugees calculate in the least in your “moral” equation, or it just the ones that are abused as a club against the Jewish state?

          • Amon Duul 3

WB your racist perspective is revealed in your refusal to condemn the Nakba.

          • Amon Duul 3

Israel wanted Jews to move to it. Do you deny that Isreali agents set of bombs in Egyptian cinemas?

        • TerrorIsEvil

All the countries of the Middle East were being divided with borders redrawn at that point in history. Israel/Palestine were not the only countries subjected to British and French and US manipulation during the 20th century. For the Arab countries to pretend that their nations are any different from Israel in that regard is to re-write history. Jewish people have an historical, biblical and 3500+ year unbroken home in Israel. Anyone who tells you otherwise is just distorting history. Jews came before Christians who came before Muslims. Haters of Israel and Jews have always tried to wipe Jews from the face of the earth. Now the leftists do it by re-writing history and shoving the lies down the throats of their children in schools and universities. I wonder if Mira Suchariov does the same with her students or if they are here working this forum with the lies and propaganda they have been taught to propagate.

        • workingbrain

Obviously Ian, neither you or Amon know much about ME history.
A little information is a dangerous thing.

          • Amon Duul 3

Clearly you know even less than nothing, as you have nothing useful to say. Why bother with your inane comment? Do you seek attention?

          • workingbrain

Duul, you’re either wholly ignorant of the history and too challenged to comprehend the FACTS about how the modern nation states of the ME were created, despite TerrorisEvil providing you with such. Are you too lazy to ;look into those facts or are you not at all interested in truth & context?

      • Amon Duul 3

        No such agreement exists.

      • TerrorIsEvil

“The Franco-British Boundary Convention of December 1920 included the “East Bank” (a territory extending from the Gulf of Aqaba in the south to the Yarmouk River in the north, and not exceeding some 30-40 km, up to the Hedjaz Railway).”

  • TerrorIsEvil

It is quite amazing how eager the Left is to unleash a torrent of Islamist rage and violence against their own people, to shrink the one small Jewish country in this world, hoping that it will buy them
approval and reward from their leftist fellow travelers in academe. I wonder if the leftist academics get promotions for sacrificing the lives of Israelis to terrorists and if they are looked upon favorably by Carleton University for their loyalty to the Israel-bashing BDS gang.

These academics are disconnected from reality. They are disconnected from their own people. They only find comfort in some kind of amorphous Tikkun Olam (healing the world) but none in helping their own people to live without threats and in establishing freedom in the world. They do not
see the connection between freedom and peace. They think that peace can be had with monsters who want you dead. They think that peace is merely the absence of war when, in fact, peace is the absence of evil.

    • Amon Duul 3

one small Jewish country It is big compared to the one very small Palestinian country in the world.

      • TerrorIsEvil

What about the 56 Islamic countries (22 of which are in the Middle East)? You have a very selective way of counting that always works in favor of Islamist propaganda against Israel. Maybe you ought to spend more time in the history books and less time at IJV and SPHR meetings.

      • TerrorIsEvil

Why don’t you work on shrinking the Islamic State, Al Qaeda, the Taliban in Afghanistan, The Iranian-backed Hezbollah (Party of G-d), Hamas, the expanding Boko Haram and other terrorists like then in North Africa and beyond? Why does the Left never concern themselves with mass murder in the name of Islam? Would that mean that you would have to criticize blasphemy laws, jihad, terrorism, misogyny, and all the baggage of sharia that makes people into slaves rather than free people?

        • downtown21

          You’re changing the subject.

          • TerrorIsEvil

Changing the subject to something that is important and potentially constructive rather than destructive of our own.

        • Amon Duul 3

Why don’t you work on the two state solution

    • Truth

It is amazing how inhumane you are. Jews that are not nationalistic zealots should be applauded because at the end of the day everybody is human and worthy of respect. This is something Zionist society needs to quickly accept or suffer severe consequences.

      • TerrorIsEvil

“…or suffer the consequences…” You leftists sure act like violent thugs when someone counters your pack-of-lies-narratives!!

I guess that is why you have such a good relationship with most terrorists.

        • downtown21

“You leftists sure act like violent thugs when someone counters your pack-of-lies-narratives!!”

Says the guy who accuses “the left” of deliberately “unleash a torrent of Islamist rage and violence” on Jews.

Violent language and imagery seems to be all you deal in.

          • TerrorIsEvil

Yes, in your perverse, destructive campaigns for BDS and emphasis on their rights, not ours; and in your deliberate attempts to win the world over to your anti-Israelism – to isolate and demonize and vilify Israel for defending itself – you are unleashing a torrent of Islamist rage against Israel – you, the dhimmi helpers and activists on the side of Islamic extremism.

          • downtown21

When did this become about me? You don’t even know me, how dare you presume to declare what I believe.

        • Truth

I don’t endorse violence unlike the Zionists. ‘Consequences’ for me means boycotts and hopefully eventually sanctions.

      • TerrorIsEvil

Yes, you only like the Jews who hide their heads in shame as they walk towards the gas chambers and firing lines. The ones who believe in and defend their own people and nation are out of character with your prejudiced stereotypes and distorted views.

        • Eugene Berkovich

Who are “The ones who believe in and defend their own people and nation”? Who do you think you are speaking for? The Jews? Well, I am Jewish. And most Jews are the Left wing Liberals. So say the polls and the voting patterns. So, don’t speak for people when you have no clue what they believe.

          • TerrorIsEvil

Yes, Eugene, you are a proud supporter of BDS and IAW and all the nonsense that weakens, shrinks and destroys Israel to satisfy your need for belonging and approval coming to you from the wider Leftist community as reward for your self-destructive views.

        • Truth

Since when did colonialism become defence? If you’re the one doing the assaulting then you’re not defending anything.

    • Jal Para

That ‘one little country’ seems to own the U.S. GOP. Guess size isn’t really a good indicator when it comes to the power they wield when my tax dollars are fighting their wars.

      • TerrorIsEvil

You get every penny back and then some from your tax dollar investment because Israel transfers all of it back to advance our high-tech economy and it buys all its hardware from the US at exorbitant prices but then must modify the equipment for the specific uses of its military. More of your tax dollars go to support Islamic regimes, even the oil-rich ones who can afford to say no to handouts. What do we get in return? Terror, beheading, cage and burning, crucifixions, rape, misogyny, dead people on the streets of Boston and New York and Fort Hood, etc., and a whole lot of terrorism which costs billions to defend ourselves against.

        • Jal Para

You live in some fantasy world. What do we get in return? As a nation – nothing. The rich and powerful? More riches and more power.

          • TerrorIsEvil

What we get is a front line against Islamism and a buffer between our free world and full-on dictatorial sharia and jihad and blasphemy laws. Would you rather Israel be part of the Islamic State and sacrifice Jews to your hate? You live in the Western world, benefit from its freedoms and bounty but you long to be part of Islamo-fascist regime – why not just go overseas to join them?

          • Jal Para

‘sacrifice Jews to your hate? ‘
            .
Guess it’s better to sacrifice Palestinians to your hate.
            .
Why, if Islam is such a threat against Jews, do Jews represent the smallest segment of our military, as a percentage by population? That tells me that Islam is not scaring them too much.

          • TerrorIsEvil

I do not want to see the Palestinians harmed but they are very good at harming their own in camps set up for them by UNRWA in Lebanon, Syria and other places where the Arab governments and now ISIS are killing them without a word from the Leftist community who see no evil when it comes to Muslim-on-Muslim killing. If the Palestinians really wanted peace, then they know how to get it – just say no to terrorism and negotiate with Israel as if they really wanted peace and not the end of the Jewish nation.

          • Jal Para

why not just go overseas to join them?’
            .
Why don’t I? Because I don’t believe fighting over religion or politics does any good. We should not be at war. It isn’t our battle to fight, no matter what the U.S. Billion Dollar War Machine tells us…… or Adelson & Bibi for that matter.

          • TerrorIsEvil

And what happens when ISIS, Hamas, Hezbollah, etc., open your door with weapons in hand ready to mow you down? Have you given that any thought or is it still okay and safe provided Christians and other Middle East minorities (in addition to a few thousand who have been massacred in the West as well) are the ones being slaughtered at this time?

          • Jal Para

Gee, I don’t know. Maybe when the Christians complete their ethnic cleansing in C.A.R., and there are no more Muslims left to rape and torture, and no more Mosques to destroy, they will move on to ISIS.

          • TerrorIsEvil

Where in the world are Christians beheading Muslims, rounding them up and shooting them, crucifying them like animals, killing “Palestinians” in Lebanese prison camps, killing and evicting hundreds of thousands of their own and people of all minorities?? Usually the West goes in to prevent Muslims from doing harm to their own as Iraq tried in Kuwait or ISIS is doing to all in their path of destruction – Libya, MB in Egypt – the list goes on and on. I know, it does not fit into your Leftist agenda and so you ignore death and destruction at the hands of Islamo-Fascists. When have you spoken up to the PA who say that no Jews will be allowed in any state under their intolerant dictatorship rule?

          • Jal Para

‘Where in the world are Christians beheading Muslims, rounding them up and shooting them, crucifying them like animals, killing “Palestinians” in Lebanese prison camps, killing and evicting hundreds of thousands of their own and people of all minorities??’
            .
Maybe it’s time to turn off Faux News and find out what is really happening in the world. You left out raping and torturing women and children – Yes, by Christians that are cleansing C.A.R. of Muslims. Get your head out of your lily white, Christians are all that, and probably male ass and educate yourself.

      • Eugene Berkovich

It’s funny that 29 out of 30 Jewish Congresspeople are DEMOCRATS!

        • Jal Para

It’s not the Jew’s or the Democrats, for the most part, that can’t seem to break away from the Sheldon money trap.

    • Eugene Berkovich

You do realize that Islamists are actually the rightwing – the enemy of the Left. Extremists are everything that the Left isn’t. Left is secular, Islamists are religious fundamentalists, Left are pro-women’s rights, Islamists are anti-women’s rights, Left are pro Equal Opportunity, Islamists – against it. And on and on, on almost every hot button issue.

If you want to label people – fine. But you must apply labels properly.

      • TerrorIsEvil

Leftists and Islamists have joined propaganda forces on campus and everywhere in society. Fascim is a leftist phenomenon these days and both the Islamists and their dhimmi leftist supporters exhibit fascist tendencies with respect to their hate for Israel and many other matters.

      • TerrorIsEvil

Truth says in this forum: “This is something Zionist society needs to quickly accept or suffer severe consequences.”

The haters want us all to “suffer severe consequences” if we do not follow their propaganda!! Sounds to me like the same line ISIS uses to enforce blasphemy laws.

    • downtown21

You should consider getting psychiatric help. It might even be covered by that health insurance those “leftists” helped you get.

    • downtown21

I can’t comprehend why this website bothers to screen comments before they can be published if it allows ^this kind of hatred. This is a character attack, if it had been directed at another commenter it would be banned but because it was leveled at “leftist academics” it was permitted.

  • Amon Duul 3

You should know that Egypt did NOT invade in 48, it intervened to try to stop massacres such as Dier Yassin.

  • Alan Jay Weisbard

For those who demean the significance of the pre-1967 war armistice lines — the Green Line–one wonders if they are eager to embrace the international borders proposed by the UN in its partition plan for Israel and Palestine back in 1947-48. Some folks like to talk about San Remo or Balfour or the early British Mandate (including the lopping off of Transjordan), but these machinations of imperial or colonial powers have far less currency or international legitimacy than resolutions of the UN, resolutions that gave legitimacy to the newborn State of Israel.
It is way past time to recognize that there are two competing narratives and claims on Eretz Israel/Mandatory Palestine, and each contains important truths and aspects of justice. If the two peoples claiming this territory are to find a way to live together in peace as neighbors, and to pursue their own cultures and political arrangements, some form of territorial compromise will be necessary. In the real world of international diplomacy, the most likely candidate for international acceptance will be something similar to the Green Line, with a number of adjustments to reflect realities on the ground and to provide a modicum of security and territorial integrity to both sides to carry through a transitional period and into the future. The presence of the Green Line on maps of the area reminds us of these realities, even if it does not precisely delineate the international boundaries yet to be fully negotiated and approved by the world community as well as the parties most directly involved.

For those unaware of it, the author of this column devotes endless hours to battling BDS and various attacks on Israel and Jews around the world. Some of the name calling, so common among anonymous hate mongers who inhabit comment boards like this, reflects the juvenile quality of so many of the comments, and adds nothing but bile to the conversation.

Alan Jay Weisbard, Professor Emeritus of Law and Jewish Studies, University of Wisconsin.

Where and when has this professor ever spoken out against BDS? In the following article she actually supports BDS:

      http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/mira-sucharov/-peter-beinart-boycott_b_1382199.html

Mira Sucharov: “Like dipping parsley into saltwater on Passover, boycotting the settlements might allow those of us who oppose the occupation a new and more finely honed expression of our Jewish identity.”

In all these articles she takes a stance to shrink Israel and appease the terrorists:

    • TerrorIsEvil

When you say “narratives” it sends alarm bells
ringing. A narrative is a story which is often apocryphal and misleading; not
based in fact. The story of “Palestinians” is indeed misleading and has very
little depth and truth when put to the scrutiny of real historical facts.

“Palestinians,” if we mean individuals who were displaced by
the wars started by Arabs against Israel, were never a separate and distinct
group. They have no common heritage and have actually identified more with
Syria in the past than any other region. Their political life was born in the mid-1960’s
helped along by the Soviets who were in a cold war with the USA and looking for
any means to harm US interests vis-a-vis any group that had a grudge and were
      willing to do battle.

What better way to harm US and Israel than to wipe out
Jewish history, create a terror group and replace the people of Israel with
others who had a claim to the land. It is not that some individuals do not have
a claim (just as Jews have a claim to lands in the Arab countries where they
were brutalized and evicted by the 100’s of thousands), it is that when people go
to war, are defeated, and then start all over again, they leave themselves very
little room for sympathy, resolution and inclusion from Jewish people fighting
for survival in a sea of countries using the “Palestinians” as terrorist pawns
      against the Israelis.

You see, we have “narratives” to and your choice to give the
“Palestinian narrative” precedence over Jewish history and historical fact is
taking sides and showing off your own prejudices and wish to destroy Israel,
just as the “Palestinians” have in mind.

    • workingbrain

NO, Professor Weisbard; “If the two peoples claiming this territory are to find a way to live together in peace as neighbors, and to pursue their own cultures and political arrangements, some form of territorial compromise will be necessary.”
To believe that “land” is the issue, is to negate all the hate, incitement and overt proclamations to eradicate the Jews. Such simplistic “solutions” are as worthy of implementation now or in the near future, without any governing partner willing to allow Jews to simply live, to the Judenrat parcelling out Jews & their belongings before the final solution.
To jump over such basic issues is to live in an alternate reality. I question whether it is the need for acceptance and to escape threat that creates so many Jewish Israel-haters or worse, pro-Israel Jews that propose “solutions” that are wholly unrealistic.
