JERUSALEM — The New York Knicks’ Amar’e Stoudemire has postponed a basketball camp he was to lead in Tel Aviv due to the Gaza conflict.

Stoudemire was scheduled to hold a basketball camp in Tel Aviv from July 27 to July 31.

A statement on his website dated July 14, and reported by Bloomberg on Tuesday, said that the Basketball Academy would be postponed “due to unforeseen circumstances.”

“We did not want to put any of our campers or coaches in harm’s way,” Stoudemire said in a statement July 22. The statement said that the camp would be rescheduled.

Some 130 Israeli children between the ages of 10 and 18 had registered for the camp, Ha'aretz reported.

Stoudemire, who claims “Hebrew roots,” first visited Israel in 2010. He is a minority owner of the Hapoel Jerusalem basketball team.
