Your daily spiel is The CJN’s roundup of Jewish stories trending around the world.

Some news is nice: Jewish and Muslim women are coming together to raise money for a vandalized Montreal mosque.

Solidarity in style: The heartening display of solidarity between the two faith groups appears to be something of a trend in North America, as harassment targeting Jews and Muslims continues.

Fear of white supremacist attacks: Incidentally, a new study by the Institute for Social Policy and Understanding shows 38 per cent of U.S. Muslims fear being victimized by white supremacist groups since Donald Trump’s election, a rate higher than the other religious groups surveyed, for example, 27 per cent of Jews feel that way.

яCJN rolls out: The CJN is rolling out a new initiative to redress the sense of exclusion sometimes expressed by members of Canada’s Russian-speaking Jewish community. Spoiler: An article written by the Russian scholar Anna Shternshis examines,“‘Why are Russian Jews the way they are?”

More Jews in the Trump house?: Is the wife of Donald Trump’s second son Eric Jewish? Do you still know who I’m talking about? Either way, never mind. The answer is no.

BDS co-founder arrested: A co-founder of the boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) movement was arrested in Israel for tax evasion.

Not your Bubbie’s Berlin: They said it couldn’t be done. And yet, Berlin is hosting its first ever Jewish food week, sponsored, apparently, by somebody’s grandmother? You should probably read the story.
