THROMBOSIS CARE
With support from Sanofi Canada, the Jewish General Hospital recently created a Centre for Excellence in Thrombosis and Anticoagulation Care (CETAC) with a mandate to support Quebec initiatives to prevent and treat thrombosis (blood clot). The centre’s financing is coming from the JGH Foundation and $1 million from Sanofi spread over three years. Complications of thrombosis include deep vein thrombosis (DVT), pulmonary embolism (PE), and venous thromboembolism (VTE). “VTE is the third-most-common cadiovascular condition after heart attack and stroke,” said JGH thrombosis program director Dr. Susan Kahn
