Shortlist for 2018 Vine Awards announced

The Koffler Centre of the Arts has announced the shortlist for the 2018 Vine Awards for Canadian Jewish Literature. Winners will be announced on Oct.11 at an Award Luncheon at the Windsor Arms Hotel, Toronto.

The Vine Awards honour both the best Canadian Jewish writers and Canadian authors who deal with Jewish subjects in four categories; fiction, non-fiction, history and young adult/children’s literature; each with a prize of $10,000.

Fiction:

The Other Mrs. Smith – Bonnie Burstow (Inanna Publications);

Class Mom – Laurie Gelman (Henry Holt and Company);

So Much Love – Rebecca Rosenblum (McClelland & Stewart).

Non-Fiction:

Buried Words: The Diary of Molly Applebaum -Molly Applebaum (The Azrieli Foundation);

The Handover – Elaine Dewar (Biblioasis);

Siberian Exile: Blood, War, and a Granddaughter’s Reckoning – Julija Sukys (University of Nebraska Press).
