From the Archives: The Royal Tour

Toronto born dentist Dr. John Ackerman had a life-long passion for photography. For over 60 years he captured everyday life in Toronto, summer excursions, military experiences during the Second World War, Jewish community events, world travels and more.  Ackerman’s keen eye for composition is revealed in this 1939 photo of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth’s visit to Toronto where they were greeted by crowds of cheering spectators.
