Breast Cancer Gift

VANCOUVER — A $3- million gift from Gordon and Leslie Diamond to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and the B.C. Women’s Hospital last week will fund the purchase of two digital mammography machines to improve detection of the disease in British Columbia. The machines allow three-dimensional, see-through imaging of breast tissue and will reduce false-positive results. The gift, the largest ever for both the foundation and the hospital, came in honour of Gordon’s mother, Sadie, who died of breast cancer. Leslie Diamond also survived the illness.
