Trade Negotiator Dies
TORONTO — Simon Reisman, the feisty and outspoken chief Canadian negotiator of the 1988 Canada-U.S. Free Trade Agreement, died March 8 in Ottawa of cardiac arrest. He was 88. He died in his sleep at the Ottawa Heart institute after having a pacemaker operation a few days earlier. The Montreal-born Reisman joined the federal public service in 1946 and left in 1975 to become a consultant. He returned in 1985 to lead the trade talks.
Chabad Opens Camp
