OTTAWA — The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued a recall alert for two Western brand kosher cream cheese products that may be contaminated with salmonella. Western Original Cream Cheese in a 250-gram container (best before Dec. 28 and with the UPC code 0 61641 00006) and Western Light Cream Cheese, also in a 250-gram container (best before Dec. 28 and with the UPC code 0 61641 01550 1) were distributed in Ontario, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. There have been no reported illnesses associated with them, the CFIA said in a release.

Dreidel Rock

TORONTO — As part of its Classic Rock Weekends series and in honour of Chanukah, radio station Q107 in Toronto dedicated this past weekend to “rockers with Jewish heritage.” The classic rock station’s “And the Dreidel Will Rock” weekend featured bands with Jewish members, such as Kiss, with Gene Simmons; Rush, with Geddy Lee; and Van Halen, with David Lee Roth.
