Funding Lauded

TORONTO — Canadian Jewish Congress welcomed the permanent allocation of $1.6 million in annual funding to the Security Infrastructure Pilot Program through Public Safety Canada announced in last week’s federal budget. “This vital program will continue to assist at-risk communities in protecting their communal institutions from violence and vandalism. As the Jewish community knows from direct experience, beyond the physical damage of such crimes, there is a deeper psychological damage to the victimized community. Such attacks leave it feeling isolated, vulnerable and unwelcome. We applaud the federal government for making this funding available,” said CJC president Mark Freiman.
