Strikes for scholarships

Teens for the Community (TFC) recently organized their annual bowl-a-thon, called  “Strikes for Scholarships”.

The unique feature of this program, initiated and implemented exclusively by TFC members, was the city-wide participation of teens from at least five different schools across the GTA, including students from CHAT and CHAR. As 75 enthusiastic participants converged on Playtime Bowl in North York, armed with pledge sheets and effusive energy¸ the successful competition raised a whopping $3000 amid an atmosphere of hair-splitting fun and serious determination. The proceeds have been ear-marked for needy children who lack the funds to join the extra-curricular recreational activities offered by Chabad  Youth Network of Ontario, such as retreats and Shabbatons, as well as to provide scholarships at CYN Hebrew School for families who cannot afford tuition.

All social and educational  programming offered and run by Chabad Youth Network are governed by a non-discriminatory policy to avail all Jewish children and teens of their programs regardless of financial ability, and as such, willing participants are never turned away for lack of funds.
