Rubashkin Acquitted

DES MOINES — Kosher meat-packing executive Sholom Rubashkin was acquitted in an Iowa court of child labour violations after a month-long trial. He was found not guilty on all 67 counts relating to 26 South American teens who worked at the Agriprocessors kosher meat-packing plant in Postville, Iowa. Rubashkin was convicted last November on 86 federal fraud charges in connection with the plant. His sentencing in that case is this month. The plant was the site of a 2008 immigration raid by U.S. officials in which 389 illegal immigrants, including 31 children, were arrested.
