Amy Sky featured in "Conversations" Series

AMY SKY FEATURED IN ‘CONVERSATIONS’ SERIES
 
The Harold Green Jewish Theatre Company opens its 2010-11 season with the return of its Conversations On The Green series, hosted by Ralph Benmergui. Singer-songwriter Amy Sky is featured on Monday, Sept. 20, 7:30 p.m.
The series continues with film director and producer Norman Jewison (Oct. 4), lawyer-author Edward Greenspan (Dec. 6), theatre impresario David Mirvish (April 11, 2011) and media personality Jeanne Beker (May 16, 2011). The series is co-sponsored by the Centre for Jewish Studies, University of Toronto. Jane Mallett Theatre, St. Lawrence Centre, 27 Front St. E. Tickets are $37 per event, available at the door.

• Swedish violinist Semmy Stahlhammer reads from his book Codename Barber, detailing the exploits of his partisan father during World War II, then performs klezmer with cellist Isabel Blomme. • The documentary 100 Voices: A Journey Home, chronicles the journey of six cantors from United States and Canada who visit Poland to learn more about the Jewish life and culture that once thrived there.The film is being screened at the Cineplex Odeon Sheppard Grande, Cineplex Odeon Varsity Cinemas and Silver City Richmond Hill on the evening of Monday, Sept. 20. At the Galleries

• Koffler Centre of the Arts presents MIXEDFIT, an off-site exhibition featuring the works of artists Millie Chen, Emelie Changur, Hannah Claus, Stefan Hoffmann and Dan Perjovschi. The works have been silkscreened onto T-shirts, which are for sale. Opening reception and fashion show is at Balisi, 711 Queen St. W., Tuesday, Sept. 21, 7 to 9 p.m. The exhibition continues at four Balisi stores to Nov. 28.

• Artist Miron Semec (1959-2005) struggled with life and found solace in art. An exhibition titled {Disabilities} Enabling Abilities showcases 51 of his works, some of which seem to bear homage to Chagall, Modigliani and Van Gogh.
