    I don’t think that many of the people being called “self-hating Jews” are self-hating at all…Quite the opposite. I think too many of them are self-aggrandizing, to the point where they think they can raise their intellectual, political and/or personal status by showing an alarming (and, ultimately self-destructive) willingness to nail other Jews (most of whom live nowhere near them) to a cross in order to prove their own moral superiority and/or acceptability. I find that extremely misguided. Alas, I am afraid it is not a new phenomenon and it is one that re-emerges when the lessons of history are conveniently forgotten. We need to teach our children to be proud of their Jewish heritage–not to be apologetic about it or ashamed of it, let alone contemptuous or dismissive towards it.
