Speaking to supporters at a rally in West Virginia, President Donald Trump warned that Israel will have to pay a “high price” in peace negotiations with the Palestinians over the move of the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem. He boasted that moving the embassy will help facilitate a peace deal between Israel and the Palestinians because it took the issue of Jerusalem “off the table.”

Anthony Housefather has officially been named the Liberal party candidate in the riding of Mount Royal for the 2019 federal election. The former mayor of Côte-St-Luc, Quebec, Housefather was first elected to Parliament in 2015.

The Toronto International Film Festival has officially added a second Natalie Portman film to its Special Presentations lineup. Vox Lux centres on a pop singer (Portman) who is “struggling to navigate a career fraught with scandals”. The Israeli-born actress also stars in Xavier Dolan’s much anticipated The Death and Life of John F. Donovan, which will have its World Premiere at TIFF.

After ultra-Orthodox coalition members protested over construction work being done on Shabbat, Transportation Minister Israel Katz ordered a cessation to building a pedestrian bridge in Tel Aviv. The construction, which will require one direction of the Ayalon highway to be shut down while massive steel support girders are hoisted into place, had been slated to coincide with Shabbat to minimize impact on commuters.
